TRAIN  WORKING  NOTES

INTERCITY

- Manchester to Poole -

This was a twice daily weekday service between Manchester and Poole with an additional Holidaymaker Express train to Weymouth on summer Friday nights. On Saturdays and Sundays there were two up trains each day but only one down train. The service ran via Reading where the trains reversed, swapping locomotives in the process. The train was hauled by a class 47 locomotive. The National Fares Manual shows that the standard single fare was £31:50.
