TRAIN  WORKING  NOTES

INTERCITY

- Liverpool to Poole -

This was a twice daily service between Liverpool and Poole with Saturday trains being reduced to one each way during the winter. However, the early Saturday train was extended to Weymouth. The train was hauled by a class 47 locomotive and ran via Reading where the trains reversed, swapping locomotives or running round in the process. The National Fares Manual of 1988 shows that the standard single fare was £31:50.

During the mid 1980's, a parcels van was detached from the rear of the down train at Southampton station and another attached to the up train
