There were a variety of fuel oil trains that ran through Southampton, principally to and from Fawley refinery. However, there was also traffic to and from Hamble and Micheldever. Much of the traffic went out of the region but one within which prospered was that to and from
Furzebrook to serve the Wytch Farm oil and gas field.
