TRAIN  WORKING  NOTES

BRITISH  RAIL

- Manchester to Poole -

This was a
daily service between Manchester and Poole, being extended to Weymouth on summer Fridays. There was no through service on Sundays and travellers had to change at Reading. The train was usually hauled by a class 47 loco although a class 33 could often be seen between Weymouth and Reading. The stock of the down working was normally berthed at Bournemouth carriage sidings but at Weymouth Jubilee Sidings on the summer weekends. A parcels carriage was removed from the back of the afternoon down train at Southampton station and taken into the Western Docks.
