TRAIN WORKING NOTES
BRITISH RAIL
- Liverpool to Poole -
This service between Liverpool and Poole was a twice daily during the week, then one down and two up on a summer Saturday and two down and one up on Sunday as shown on this summary. Certain trains terminated or started at Southampton. Idle stock was berthed at Bournemouth carriage sidings. The train was hauled by a class 47 locomotive and ran via Reading where the trains reversed, and the locomotives were swapped or ran round in the process. For a period during the 1980's, a van was attached to the up train whilst at Southampton station.
