TRAIN  WORKING  NOTES

BRITISH RAIL

- Brockenhurst Motorail train -

This train ran at summer weekends between Brockenhurst and Stirling. The loco at the southern end was a class 33 and the stock comprised a brake second open, a corrodor first, two sleepers and six carflats. The carflats were left at Brockenhurst for unloading and loading whilst the accommodation coaches were berthed at Bournemouth Carriage Sidings, travelling via Poole to enable the loco to run round.

The period covered by this information is 1978-1979. The down service arrived in the morning and returned on the up service in the evening each Saturday and Sunday. There was no weekday service. The train ran via Reading but information from 1980-1981 shows the train running via Kensington Olympia where the train from Dover was attached.
