VIRGIN TRAINS

- Manchester to Bournemouth -

Virgin operated the service between Manchester and Poole from 6 January 1997 until 11 November 2007. The service was predominantly provided by HST sets, being replaced in later days by class 220 units. Trains terminated at Bournemouth, however the service comprised three trains each way on weekdays and Saturdays. One train each day was the reinstated Pines Express. On Sundays, there were two trains each way. At weekends, the service was extended to Poole. The Virgin timetable for 2000-2001 shows a return fare between Poole and Manchester as being available from £30:00.
