MODEL RAILWAYS
New Forest junction
We moved home again and here I used the garage to store my railway things. I decided to build a temporary layout just to get some trains running, and to this purpose I used some old internal doors I had removed from the house. The track was laid to suit the small space available but to give as much running as possible. I decided to call it New Forest Junction as it was based on Southampton Central.
I started with the station layout and managed to include a loop for continuous running and a couple of storage sidings. I then progressed to create a steam and diesel depot and finally some additional storage sidings by extending the baseboard.
All the trackwork was second hand from my previous layout and consequently was never up to scratch. The buildings were new, either scratch built or from kits.
Here are some pictures of the early stages followed by the improved station area then the central area and the depot.
