Like many people, I started to collect stamps as a child. I kept my collection and added to it by taking over collections of various relations who had lost interest in their own collections.
In early adulthood, I brought my collection up to standard and completed my selection to include all stamps up to the coronation of Queen Elizabeth 2. Thereafter I started to collect first day covers on a regular basis for many years.
After a long lapse, I am now bringing my collection up to date and adding items such as booklets, miniature sheets, etc. I have decided to experiment with displaying all types of issue together in chronological order. I do not like the idea of keeping first day covers or presentation packs in a separate album. The principal problem will be binding in bulky pages together with flimsy pages but I will give it a try. I expect to find it more interesting to have all the items together.
In preparing to start this, I found it difficult by refering to conventional catalogues to place issues into chronological order. To remedy this I am compiling my own chronological lists to enable myself to plan the layout of my collection.
I am preparing a list of British stamps for each year, starting at the millenium and working backwards. I shall publish each list on these pages as I complete them in the hope they may interest or help others. I would point out that I am an amateur therefore would welcome observations and corrections.
